Ghastly Road Accident Claims 20 Lives in Muyuka

A heavy-duty truck collided with a 19-seater bus on the Mile 29 stretch along the Buea-Kumba highway early August 19, 2017.

Twenty persons are reported dead following a collision between a 19-seat passenger bus and a heavy-duty truck around the Mile 29 stretch, near Muyuka, along the Buea-Kumba highway.

The ghastly accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, August 19, 2017. Eyewitness accounts and field reports say the driver of the truck lost control of his vehicle after brakes failed. The truck collided with the bus, killing the nineteen passengers – all members of a traditional choir from Buea - and the driver.  

The remains of the deceased were removed from the debris by security officials assisted by nearby residents and several motorists.

The Mile 29 hill in Muyuka is noted for the most deadly accidents on the Buea-Kumba highway.
