Liberia’s Supreme Court will decide on elections’ fate on Monday

Monrovia, 03 Nov. 17 – The Supreme Court of Liberia on Friday held the hearing of the case filed in by the Liberty Party of veteran lawyer Charles Brumskine who is asking the court to nullify the first round of elections and have a rerun of the presidential and legislative elections held on October 10.

   In his complaint to the Supreme Court, Charles Brumskine said there were irregularities and frauds during the October elections, accusing the Elections commission of manipulating the process.

   On Wednesday November 1, the Supreme Court placed a stay order on the election and asked the Commission to file a return on or before Thursday to show reason why elections should not be prohibited.

   On Friday the full bench of the Supreme Court proceeded with the hearing, the lawyers of the Elections commission and the Liberty Party were heard by the bench which decided to have the verdict rendered on Monday November 6.
