UP, LP Request Subpoena on NEC Chairman, and Police Director

Monrovia, 8 November 2017 - The Hearing officer of NEC currently conducting the joint investigation filed by the Unity Party and the Liberty Party has been requested to issue a Writ of Subpoena Duces Tecum on the Chairman of the National Elections Commission and the Director of the Liberia National Police.

 

A Subpoena Duces Tecum is a court order commanding someone to bring certain documents or records to court.

The Unity Party has joined the Liberty Party accusing the NEC of Fraud, Irregularities, Constitutional, and Violation of the Elections laws that occurred during the October 10, 2017 elections.

 

Making the Subpoena on behalf of the joint parties on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, Cllr. Benedict Sannoh pointed out that, it is important that they obtain copies of the final voters Registration roll , copy of the attendance of voters roll at the polling stations, copies of the presiding officers worksheets, the investigation report of the NEC presiding officer who was arrested in Nimba County, and a staff of the office of the President, Mr. Amos Sebo who was arrested with voters registration printing machine and electoral material.

 

The two parties also requested that the Director of the Liberia National Police produce the investigative report of the staff of the office of the President, Mr. Amos Sebo.

 

Cllr. Sannoh pointed out that the documents are relevant to their case and that the subpoena be issued on the persons named.
