Another milestone has been achieved in the international career of the Cameroonian-born international worker, Susan Namondo Ngongi, following her appointment early August 2017 as the UN Resident Coordinator and the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Eritrea.

Susan Ngongi occupies this new function after years of experience and service in the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Before Eritrea, she was UNICEF Representative in Ghana (2013-2017). She had served as UNICEF Representative in Comoros (2010-2013) and as Deputy Representative in Liberia (2008-2010).

Susan’s brilliant career in UNICEF started after she served as a consultant at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Rome, Italy, in 2000. Her first UNICEF assignment was in Kenya as Resident Project Officer in Lokichoggio (2000-2001) and in Rumbek, South Sudan (2001-2002). In 2004, she was an Emergency Officer in Malakal with UNICEF Sudan and later in 2005 she became Emergency Project Officer with UNICEF in Nairobi, Kenya. From 2006-2008, she was an Emergency Programme Specialist in New York.

Nothing would have prepared Susan Ngongi better for UN assignments than her sound academic background. Besides Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, she holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbia University in New York (USA) and a Master’s Degree in Animal Health from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom.
